This richly detailed Louis XV-style wall-mounted console is a striking example of French Rococo revival design, likely crafted in the late 19th or early 20th century. Its carved wooden frame is painted and gilded, the finish now mellowed into a soft, timeworn patina that enhances its ornate detailing. The serpentine apron is adorned with scrolling foliage, latticework, and a central cartouche featuring two detailed rose flowers, all carved in deep relief. Two elegant scrolling legs support the piece, meeting at a carved stretcher, lending the console a sense of lightness despite its elaborate form.
Crowning the piece is a beautifully veined pink marble top, shaped to follow the flowing lines of the base and projecting slightly at the center. The marble—possibly Provençal Breccia—displays a rich blend of blush, mauve, and rose hues, adding texture and warmth that complements the gilded frame beneath.
The contrast between the natural stone and the elaborate woodwork gives the console both visual balance and decorative depth. Designed to be wall-mounted, it offers both decorative flair and functional surface space—ideal in an entryway, under a mirror, or as a focal point in a classically styled interior. A cabinetmaker’s mark “CH” and catalog number on the back suggest it was once part of a curated furniture collection, further enhancing its historical interest.
